For the past twenty years, The Red Onion has provided the Brunswick community with a nice, family owned and operated neighborhood eatery where local residents could meet and enjoy some great food, a casual drink, some conversation, and some of the most innovative entertainment in the area. Now owned by Don (one of the original owners) and Donna Cash and Don and Patty Wcislo, The Red Onion has become well known not only as an entertainment center but also for their continuing involvement in local fundraising and community affairs.
Breakfast at The Red Onion features food that's cooked to order just you'd make in your own kitchen. You won't find mounds of home fries, bacon, and sausage sitting under heat lamps waiting to be served here. Each breakfast is made to order and everything is guaranteed to be fresh. If you order French Toast, they're in the kitchen cracking eggs and making the batter to order and their home fries came into the kitchen as fresh potatoes before being cooked with the skin on and fried on the grill.
The Red Onion's meat is fresh each day from the West Side Market and is all flame broiled rather than being fried on the flat iron grill. Of course, flat iron grilling is available upon request as their kitchen staff is dedicated to catering to your preferences. Each of The Red Onion's ingredients is the same high quality as the Marzetti Dressings™ that grace their salads and the pure Wesson™ Oil used for frying.
The lunch and dinner menu features a dozen tasty appetizers from which to choose and French Fry lovers have their choice of regular fries, Beer Fries, Waffle Fries, and Spicy Wedge Fries each available with a choice of Potato Patch Toppings that include chili, cheese, bacon, and peppers. From salads to sandwiches and entreés, you won't have any difficulty finding something to tempt your appetite and just to make sure, The Red Onion has regular specials each day that include items such as Steamed Chilean Mussels with Garlic Butter, Snow Crab, and an Olé Mexican Day featuring fifty cent tacos from 11:00 am till closing for dine-in only. In addition, each day also brings an unpublished soup and sandwich special that will make you want to place The Red Onion at the top of your list of daily stops.
The Red Onion sponsors several local ball teams and fills with players and their parents after each game. You can dine on their patio in the warmer months and enjoy the beautifully wooded scenery while relaxing with friends and family. Inside you'll find two pool tables, a Golden Tee, and other games that can entertain for hours plus four TVs and a big screen TV so you won't miss the game. The Red Onion has a Liquor License including a Sunday Liquor License that makes them one of the few spots in Medina County that can serve wine and liquor after 1:00 pm on Sundays. The Red Onion is also a full service lottery agency and have sold tickets that have won $5,000.00 and $6,000.00 in addition to many Instant Lotto winners.
Most in the community are aware of The Red Onion's work raising funds for various worthy causes through their selfless efforts hosting fundraisers such as poker runs and reverse raffles. This year they are holding a Harley Davidson 100th Year Birthday Party with the money raised being split between the Iron Pigs Motorcycle Club's Northeast Ohio Chapter (motorcycle riding law enforcement officers) and the Medina County Sheriffs Department's crime prevention program.
The Red Onion has established itself as one of our county's treasures by providing a popular neighborhood meeting place and a true community spirit. Drop on by today for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or all three and while you're there don't forget to tell them The Brunswick, Ohio Community Advocate
